Alice Di Sibio age 92, formerly of Canonsburg, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 2:30 PM in the Country Meadows Nursing Center, Bridgeville. She was born September 21, 1917 in Canonsburg, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Levandowski Backner.
She was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Di Sibio was a member of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church, Meadowlands, and a former member of St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg, where she lived most of her life.
She was an excellent Italian and Slovak cook, enjoyed playing bingo, and listening to polkas.
Mrs. Di Sibio was the quiet leader of her family and the last survivor of her immediate family.
On August 3, 1938, she married Russell A. Di Sibio who died on October 11, 1999.
Surviving are two sons, Robert (Marie) Di Sibio of Williamsville, NY; Russell (Julie) Di Sibio of Boardman, OH; daughter, Carol (Dennis) Terry of Moon Township; four grandchildren; Robert, Jr.; James (Jaclyn), Ryan and Adam Di Sibio and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Ronald Di Sibio, who died at birth, and six brothers and six sisters.
Friends are welcome on Friday, May 7, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc.; Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where a Blessing Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 8, 2010. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church, Meadowlands, with Father John O'Shea officiating. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Canonsburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Country Meadows South Hills Nursing Center, 3590 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, PA 15017 or to Odyssey HealthCare, 190 Bilmar Drive, Suite #200, Pittsburgh, PA 15205, in memory of Mrs. Alice Di Sibio.
