Alfonso J. (Dutchie) Saieva

Alfonso J. (Dutchie) Saieva age 86 of Muse, died Thursday, May 12, 2011 in McMurray Hills Manor.
He was born April 21, 1925 in Sicily, the son of the late Baldassare and Anna Russo Saieva.
Mr. Saieva served with the United States Army during World War II with the 82nd Air Born receiving Purple Heart.
He lived most of his life in Muse, where he was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Muse Independent Club also Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston.
Mr. Saieva retired from former McGraw-Edison first start as a welder and then maintenance department.
In his early years he played softball for McGraw-Edison and also for Muse Independent Club. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, gardening, bowling and hunting.
On February 12, 1946 he married Caroline R. LoGreco, who died on March 28, 1997.
Surviving are son, Samuel A. (Betty) Saieva of Houston, two daughters, Karen (Rich) Jozwick of Wellsburg, W.V.; Joann Romano of Muse, eight grandchildren, Michelle Saieva, Brian Saieva, Stacy (David) Cushey, Richard and John Jozwick, Carli and Jamie Romano, and Alexa Terrell, nine great-grandchildren, brother, James Saieva of Muse, four sisters, Jean Prandini of Meadowlands, Rose Gurreri of York, Pa.; Lily Popich of Muse, Mary Kurnik, of York, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased also are two sons, Richard James Saieva in 1974, David "Sy" Saieva in 2010, two sisters, Libby M. Lombardo and Carmella Schwimer.
Friends are welcome on Saturday, May 14, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM and on Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where a Blessing Service will be held Monday, May 16, 2011 at 9:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Muse. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Canonsburg. Full military rites will be accorded by the combined honor guard of VFW Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston.
