Albert J. Albinini age 87 of Canonsburg, died Wednesday February 11, 2009 in Canonsburg General Hospital. He was born February 6, 1922 in Strabane a son of John and Theresa Rose Albinini. He lived his entire life in the Strabane and Canonsburg area where he was a member of St. Patrick R.C. Church.
Mr. Albinini served with the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of VFW post 191 of Canonsburg. He was a 1977 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and prior to his retirement in 1987 was an instructor in auto body repair at the Western Area Vo-technical school. He had been a partner in AAA Body Shop and was past president of the Garage Owners Assoc.
Mr. Albinini was a member of the SNPJ and KSKJ St. Jerome Lodges and the Canonsburg Senior Citizens Center where he enjoyed shooting pool. A talented musician, he was a guitarist and vocalist with the Joe Terpin Trio and the Henry Laverich Orchestra. He was an accomplished carpenter, cabinet maker and water color artist who made his own frames.
He was well liked by, and a friend to, everyone that knew him.
On August 2, 1947 he married Agnes R. Nakoneczny, who died May 23, 2003.
Surviving are two daughters, Paula (Keith) Stanko of Somerset, and Barbara Albinini of Swissvale; a son Jon (Nancy) Albinini of Lower Burrell, four grandchildren; Maria and Ben Stanko, and Alec and Elizabeth Albinini, a great granddaughter, Lila Williams, and several nieces and nephews. He was the last of his immediate family. Deceased is his sister Ann Habe.
Friends are welcome from 2-8 p.m. Friday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, where a blessing service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday February 14, 2009. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick R.C. Church. Entombment in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, with full military rites accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars post 191 of Canonsburg and the American Legion post 902 of Houston Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to ABOARD (an Autism family support organization) 35 Wilson Street Pittsburgh, PA. 15223 or on line at, ABOARD.org
