Al Bebar
1936~2010
Al C. Bebar, died Friday, November 19, 2010 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born September 8, 1936, the only son of Cyril Bebar and Mary Koroly Bebar.
Mr. Bebar was very active throughout his life, In his youth, he played football, ran track, played polka music on an accrdian where he also played on KDKA radio, made his own toys and wasalways helping neighbors and friends. He was an avid reader and loved to share information with others. he enjoyed his quiet times in the morning when he was feeding and watching the birds and reading and studying the Bible and his secular readings. he also enjoyed riding his bicycle, was a very good cook, loved to take walks on nature trails, enjoyed fishing, loved animals and children, enjoyed his travels with his wife, big fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and was a great handyman. He cared about others and always wanted to extend his help to make them laugh and put smile on their face. He called himself the good humor man. he was very vibrant and creative person, making lamps, building funiture and always thinking of new and different ideas to tackle projects. He led a full and happy life until May 2010.
Mr Bebar served in the U.S. Marine Reserves and enlisted for active duty in the Marine Corp., where he did land, sea and air duty. He served our country for 11 years and 27 days, from 1954 to 1965.
He was an insurance agent, construction worker and investment consultant.
In February of 1975, he met his wife Kate Quigley Bebar, in Houston, TX., they married December 22, 1977. He was always a caring, loving,generous and devoted husband. From the beginning of their life together, they had many humorous nicknames for each other. After retirement, they moved to Pennsylvania in September 2005.
He was a member of Untied Church of God, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg, American Legion Post 902 of Houston, White Eagles,PNU and Houston Independent Club.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son, Mark Stone of Prescott, Airz., granddaughters, Caitlin, Ashley and Valerie in Airzona; nieces and nephews, Brain Sims of Export, Donald Sims of Maryland, Jeannette Elish of Canonsburg; and best friends, Jimmy Lewin of Jersey Shore and Larry Wolfe of Plum.
Deceased are two sisters, Diane Sims and Jennie Zaman.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 8 PM Tueday In Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where services will be held at noon Wednesday, November 24, 2010, with Pastor Don Henson of United Church of God in Wheeling, W.Va., officiating. Interment will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.Full military rites will be accorded by the combined honor guards VFW post 191 and American Legion Post 902.
